The Edinburgh Fringe Festival is amazing. We know: we’ve spent nearly a year of our lives there. The largest arts festival in the world, it’s the place to be for people at all stages of their creative careers - an onslaught of comedy, theatre, cabaret, music and circus that rages throughout the month of August in the incredibly beautiful city of Edinburgh. What creative wouldn’t want to be there?
It’s awesome. But it can also be really tough. That's why we wrote this book.
WHO IS THIS BOOK FOR?
You might be a brand new independent theatre company, a comedian who’s been on the circuit for a while but wants the challenge of an hour-long show, a physical theatre group making waves in their home country but looking to tour and network at the biggest arts event in the world. The Edinburgh Fringe is open to all, but its very inclusiveness is what makes it so difficult to navigate.
Here’s where we come in. From the very first planning stages of booking your venue and coming up with a marketing campaign right through to flyering your show, how to deal with the press and then, when you’re back home, how to manage the depressing come-down.
We wrote this book because there’s not a whole lot out there about the finicky stuff. The admin side. This book will help you hit the ground running when you arrive in Edinburgh for the first time.
In case you're not convinced, we enlisted the help of lots of Fringe veterans, from award-nominees and TV stars Cariad Lloyd and Nick Helm to venue workers and flyering experts Rachael Finney and Michaela Carroll to agent/producer extraordinaire Beth O'Brien. Read their wise words throughout the book.
Doing Edinburgh is an investment in your career. Cracking the Fringe helps ensure your investment is a solid one.
