Yep, this is totally serious. If you buy groceries, you will save money. Eat at home, my friends, for though the Angus Beef Burger stand at the Balloon is gorgeous and tempting, it will suck you dry. This is your list for the first big shop. It will, of course, depend on the length of your stay and how many people you're sharing with. It makes sense to find someone to split the cost with. Don't overshop as it will leave you with loads of leftovers at the end.
Food:
Long lasting staples
Jars and tins
Perishables
Frozen stuff
Alcohol and mixers
Easy/quick meal ideas:
Chilli and rice
Soup (put some pasta in to spread it out)
Spaghetti
Tuna pasta bake
Sausages and mash
Frittata
Tips:
You may find that you're only ever really in for breakfast, in which case make it a filling one.
Bring along some plastic containers or sandwich bags so you can carry a snack or some lunch with you.
Organise a cooking rota for your household. It will save everyone time and cash and it's a nice way time to spend together.
When you're staying out late, running around and partying, eating properly is an easy way to ward off the dreaded Fringe lurgy. It's worth it!
